Euro-Moulders – Recyclability of PU in cars
The Brief
We were commissioned to create this animation by EURO-MOULDERS, the non-profit industry association representing European manufacturers of moulded polyurethane parts for the automotive industry.
The brief was to create an engaging, informative animation that would explain the role of PU in cars and to encourage support for the infrastructure changes needed to improve recycling efficiency and change how polyurethane is manufactured upstream.
With an audience of policy makers, at the EU and national level, as well as professionals throughout the automotive value chain, the animation needed to be positive and future focused, whilst informing viewers and building trust and confidence.
The Approach
EURO-MOULDERS drafted an outline script for this project that set the direction and tone of the narrative, so our work began in the script editing stage, where we suggested tweaks for flow and animation suitability.
Having confirmed the script, we worked on a concept to visualise the narrative. We chose to centre the visuals on a car journey, a hook that allowed us to bring in relatable motion graphics and appealing characters throughout the animation.
We created scenes that included a cross-roads, roundabout, motorway signs and roadblocks to visualise the challenges and potential for improving recycling of car parts, whilst following our lead couple on their journey.
The animation is voiced by an un-accented male voice over artist, ensuring clear message delivery, and it is subtitled in English. EURO-MOULDERS’ members will create their own versions with first language subtitles to bring greater engagement in their own regions.
