Bioenergy Europe (BECCS)
The Brief
Bioenergy Europe tasked us with the creation of an animation advocating for sustainable forest management as a potent tool in combating climate change. The key message centred around the role of young forests in capturing carbon at a rapid rate, reinforcing that sustainable practices not only enhance annual carbon sequestration but also support a bio-based economy through the renewable biomass they provide.
The Approach
To communicate these crucial messages, we developed an animation that used vibrant, natural imagery to depict sustainable forest management practices in action. The visuals were designed to be lush and green, showcasing a variety of tree species at different stages of growth, emphasising the dynamic role forests play in carbon storage.
We visually demonstrated how sustainable practices, such as controlled harvesting and planting new trees, contribute to increased carbon sequestration.
We also explored the economic side of sustainable forest management. By showing how harvested biomass could be turned into renewable energy, the animation depicted how forests support a bio-based economy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The Result
The final animation was a success in clearly conveying the dual benefits of sustainable forest management: environmental and economic. It effectively highlighted how young forests play a crucial role in accelerating carbon capture while also providing renewable resources that fuel the bio-based economy.
