High speed rail position paper animation

The Brief
CER commissioned us to create an animation to explain their High-Speed Rail position paper to an audience of decision makers and policy advisers in Brussels-based EU institutions, as well as organisations and civil society groups working to influence EU policy.

The animation would need to present the rail sector’s vision for the development of a European High-Speed Rail Network, and help the audience to understand its importance and the need for investment.

The Approach

Working closely with the team at CER, we developed a narrative for the animation that highlights the key messages of the 22 page position paper in a succinct script of just 90 seconds.

We then turned our attention to the visual style for the animation. Having been lucky enough to work with CER for several years across a range of projects, it was decided that a brand new look and feel should be created for this project. We wanted a style that would be modern, future-focused, slick and professional. So we designed a new character style for the animation, combining this with a broadened colour palette to create developed scenes and settings that visualise the potential of the new network.

A positive and upbeat voice over delivery from CER’s chosen female voice over artist works well with a modern music track and sound effects to give the audio for this animation the energy and pro-active feel that suits the messaging.

The Result

The animation was played at CER’s Connecting Europe at High-Speed event in Brussels, where it gained positive stakeholder feedback, before being rolled out across social media and web.
