EBNet – What is Environmental Biotechnology?

Brief

EBNet commissioned us to create a two-minute animation to explain what environmental biotechnology is, with a broad target audience consisting of academics, businesses, and individuals who wish to engage with, and join the Network, as well as the general public. 

EBNet is a community of academics and industry professionals dedicated to engineering microbial systems for environmental protection, bioremediation and resource recovery.

Approach

As a scientific explainer video, it was vital to get the design right to make the animation as clear yet informative as possible. We took great care in making sure depictions of equipment were realistic, whilst also fitting the visual style of the video. We based the colour scheme for the animation on EBNet’s core colour palette to create a cohesive visual, linking the video to their brand identity. 

A strong, authoritative voice was chosen by the client, with a neutral accent to reflect the broad target audience for the animation. We coupled this with an upbeat music track and sound effects to create an overall feeling of energy and positivity.

Result

The animation was very well received by the team at EBNet. They felt that the animation perfectly explained the complex topic for those with industry knowledge, whilst also being eye-catching and engaging for members of the public who may have little prior knowledge of environmental biotechnology.
