CHIVA

Brief

The Children’s HIV Association, CHIVA, commissioned us to create a 90-second animation to explain who they are and more about their work. They needed to build on current resources to communicate the three strands of their work to healthcare professionals, families and young people.

Approach

A key message CHIVA wanted to include is the support they are increasingly offering to older young people. Tying this into the additional message about how CHIVA has evolved since its inception, we used a range of inclusive characters, portraying them growing up and reaching various milestones. These characters symbolise the charity’s growth as well as the diverse group of people the charity supports.

The animation had a broad target audience, so the tone needed to strike the right balance between friendly and professional. Aimed at those within the healthcare profession and those that the charity supports, the piece needed to be both informative and reassuring. The overall tone achieved sets out a clear message that CHIVA is approachable and supportive.

Building on their colour palette, the animation maintained a bright and playful visual style. This in turn reinforced the friendly, approachable tone that we were aiming to achieve. In addition, an upbeat, hopeful backing track emphasised this tone and put forward an optimistic message about who CHIVA are, what they do, and what they hope to achieve.

Result

The animation was very well received by the client. It now features front and centre on their website, acting as the main point of reference for website visitors wanting to learn more about the charity.
